From Overlooked to Unstoppable

Naudain T. Radcliff grew up in the inner city of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania — a kid with real athletic talent, real dreams, and almost no roadmap for what came next. Nobody in his family had gone to college. Nobody in his neighborhood was explaining the recruiting process. And nobody told him that the opportunities he was chasing had rules, timelines, and requirements that could make or break everything.

At 12 years old, Naudain was discovered as a Little League pitcher by Coach Nance — a moment that lit a fire in him and showed him what it felt like to be seen. A year later, watching Curly Neal play, he fell in love with basketball and realized that sport could be a vehicle for something bigger than a game.

In high school at Westinghouse, Naudain became a four-year varsity baseball player — a pitcher, catcher, and team captain. He was good. He was coachable. He was the kind of athlete that college programs look for. But no one around him knew how to translate that talent into a college opportunity, and the system wasn't designed to find kids like him.

He walked on at Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) — not recruited, not on scholarship, just determined. But without guidance, without preparation, and without a real understanding of what college demanded, he struggled. He flunked out. He drove trucks. He worked. And then — because quitting was never really an option — he came back.

Naudain returned to IUP and finished what he started, becoming the first person in his family to earn a college degree. That experience — the failure, the grind, the comeback — became the foundation for everything he now teaches.

After graduating, Naudain built a career in service. He worked as a residential counselor, a BSA/Scouting America professional, and a Little League coach — investing in young people's character, safety, and leadership at every turn. He founded the Southern Think Tank and led Prevention of Teen Pregnancy initiatives, and he became an admissions advisor, helping students navigate the very system that had once confused him. Each role deepening his understanding of what young people need — and what they're not being told.

Today, Naudain T. Radcliff is an author, speaker, and advocate — on a mission to make sure no athlete misses their shot because nobody took the time to explain it. His book, Be Prepared: What Nobody Told Me About College Recruiting, is the blueprint he wishes someone had handed him at 14 years old.
